Love Pawtuckaway! Good amount of Lake frontage at the Public beach. There's a great playground, a store, trails, lots of parking and picnic tables (and grills). Water is shallow so safer for kids (which is a good thing bc the lifeguard on duty yesterday was hardly looking out at the water the whole time we were there (several hours). This is why this isn't a 5 start rating.

Great place for low key camping and easy to medium hikes.

Very nice camp sites with plenty of water access and bathrooms available. Camp sites are fairly spaced apart but each space differs in size.

Sound carries over the water so if people on other sites are loud then you'll be able to hear. Roads are well maintained and staff is friendly and helpful.

Great place to hike. Can get crowded. Fire tower was covered in wasps could not ascend. Still worth the short hike up .4 miles. Great place for picnic.

Beautiful park with forested walking/hiking/running trails, also has a beach on the lake, and a big playground and picnic area which is good for kids. Lots of areas to explore so it requires return trips to check it all out. Has a general store near the entrance for trail information and souvenirs, and also a snack shop near the lake.

Had a very pleasant experience at Pawtuckaway State Park. We went pretty late in the season so a lot of things were closed, but that didn't stop us from having a good time. The staff was super friendly and upbeat, which made for a nice atmosphere. The views were beautiful, and serene. Like most other state parks the campsites were compact dirt, hard to put tent stakes into, and the sites are all very close to one another, but not on top of each other, so there is a slim privacy.
